Why everytime i download movies in internet my C:drive is affected?

i partition my dive into 3! C is just for my windows D is for my music and E is for my program files and all of my downloads i have problem because everytime i download movies which is all my downloads target is on E drive my C drive is also affected because ive encountered problem when my C drive is in low space i dont know why is that happen when all my default download is on E drive. please guide me for this thanks

Because downloads are put into a temporary file and this will be on the C: drive. After the download has finished then the file is put where you want it.


It may be possible to tell Windows to use another drive for temp files but it will probably be in the registry.


You can check on all folders called Temp in your C: drive and delete anything which is in them. That will give you some space. But you may have to login to any sites that keep cookies in the Temp folders.
Reply:I imagine that your cache/temp folder is located on your C partition, a lot of data ends up in those. You should be able to change that, I think, but I haven't used Windows for some time.
Reply:The C:\ drive is the primary drive. When you download something, the file parts are temporarily stored in C:\'s TEMP folder before it is transferred to E:\ upon completetion.





This can be fixed by resizing your C:\ drive to have more space. It is recommended that the drive that windows Vista resides on has at least 3 gb of free space (8 gb for OS, 3 gigs for virtual mem and TEMP storage).


It's probably not a good idea to constrain Windows to such a small partition though.
