I wnt to download msn 8 but it says that I don't have enuf memory on my C drive. What can I do to free up some

Sorry for the text language above. Anyway I want to download 8.0 but it says that my C drive hasnt got enough memory. I have deleted or moved uncessecary files but it still says it. What can I do to extend its memory or to free up more space? By the way the only files in that drive are: Documents and Settings (nearly empty), Program files ( wont let me delete anything), WINDOWS (loads of weird files)

PLEASE HELP!

I wnt to download msn 8 but it says that I don't have enuf memory on my C drive. What can I do to free up some
DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING DIRECTLY FROM PROGRAM FILES OR WINDOWS IN C DRIVE YOURSELF(you may end up cleaning important programs required for proper functioning of the computer).sometimes when you have loads of stuff on your desktop, that eats up space in your c drive because the desktop is an extension of c drive.if you have any other drive other than the c drive(for e.g local disk D,E etc)then move all items from your desktop to these drives.now to free up some more space do the following-

1)click on start, then select run.type %temp% and press enter.when the temp folder opens delete everything you see in it(all garbage collected over time).

2)again open the run box and type prefetch.delete everything in the prefetch folder.

3)right click on the c drive icon and select properties.click on disk clean up.when the window opens,go to the more options tab and click on the system restore clean up button.then come back to the disk cleanup tab and check all boxes in the list.click ok.this will clean all unused dump files from c drive automatically.

4)see if hibernation is enabled in your computer.if it is disable it from the power options in the control panel.system restore points and hibernation images consume a huge space if allowed to accumulate.

5)uninstall all programs you dont use from add/remove programs(dont uninstall windows components even if you dont use them).

all these steps when done will free up a lot of space in your computer.then you can download your favourite stuffs.
Reply:Whatever you do, DO NOT delete anything in the windows directory.

Here are some things you can do.

Open Internet Explorer, select Internet Options and then delete temporary internet files.

Go to the control panel and select Add or Remove Programs and uninstall any programs you don't use. In general, if it's something you've never heard of you can delete it without any problems. If in doubt, Google the program to see what it is. Just be sure to reboot after every 2-3 programs.

Under My Documents, there may not be many files, but there are probably a lot of directories. If you have a lot of music or pictures, consider backing some up to CD/DVD so you don't have to keep them on your hard drive.

Empty your Recycle Bin.

Lastly, run a defrag. Especially if you delete a lot of files/programs. It is likely you have data scattered all over your hard drive. Defragmenting will group similar data and organize everything. This will help your computer run faster and it will group all the empty space together. Defrag is under Accessories%26gt;System Tools on the start menu.

If none of this creates enough space then you must have a tiny hard drive. I would recommend buying a new one and then use your system restore disk (if you have one) to reinstall Windows.
Reply:defragment your computer and that will free up some hard drive space.

go to the control panel and find it there.
Reply:u sh old delete which is not use full for u. than try to install it
Reply:Start %26gt;%26gt; Control Panel %26gt;%26gt; Add or remove Programs

Get rid of anything large that you don't use!
Reply:disk clean-up - old file

or add/remove program that you didn't use it.
Reply:By memory do you mean storage or r.a.m.? If you mean ram, then deleting programs wont help, you need to install more memory modules, although running fewer applications will help. If its storage space you are looking to increase without actually installing a larger capacity hard drive, then dong what other answers recommend should see you OK. You could also delete applications within windows such as games you dont play, fonts etc.
Reply:delete a bunch of other crap u have on ur c drive
Reply:check ur recycling bin, there might be some stuff in there that haven't been completely deleted, once there, delete the stuff u don't want
Reply:Upgrade your memory or buy a new computer with a bigger memory
Reply:do a disk defragmentation which is in your systems tools and try deleting unused files and stuff like that
Reply:MSN sucks but click start menu control panel mantainence and click free up space on hard drive. Or you cam empty your recycling bin it will speed up your computer and free up space.
Reply:sounds like you need a bigger HDD. go into My Computer and right click on the C drive. you'll see how much free space you have. if you have music files, video files, images, etc. then you can eat up disk space in a hurry.
Reply:your question isnt clear, you said "memory" did you mean hard drive space? or memory? they are entirely different. if it is memory you will have to go buy a new memory stick, if its hard drive space , delete stuff or uninstall to make room
Reply:Try not to delete anything from the WINDOWS folder, because that is what makes your computer go.

Go to your control panel, and then "Add or Remove Programs", then get rid of any programs you don't use/need anymore.

Then go to the Disk Cleanup Wizard to remove some of the windows files that it doesn't need anymore, including temporary internet files.

Also clear out your recycle bin if you haven't already.
